MelRok Participates in the US-China Smart Grid Workshop

The Third US-China Smart Grid Workshop, part of the US-China Climate Change Working Group, was held at Denver Marriott West and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, CO, on June 20-21 2018. This multi-year effort aims at coordinating US and Chinese efforts in emerging Smart Grid technologies and standards in the areas of Demand Response, Electric Vehicles, Renewable Energy Integration, Big Data Analytics and MicroGrids. Members of the group include representatives from US DOE, China DOE, Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory (LBNL), National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), China Southern Power Grid, State Grid Corporation of China, EPRI, China Electric Power Research Institute, and select Chinese and US industry representatives.

MelRok, a recognized leader in Demand Response and Building Energy Analytics, is a member of the workshop’s Demand Response and Big Data Analytics working groups. Dr. Michel Kamel, MelRok CTO, addressed the workshop attendees as part of the workshop’s Plenary Industry Panel Session. In his talk, Dr. Kamel discussed the challenges of Building Big Data Analytics and specific additional standards needed in the fields of Demand Response and Building Data Analytics. The MelRok platform is being used in the Group’s Automated Demand Response demonstrations at LBNL’s Flexlab.
