The energy industry is undergoing a paradigm shift where both energy supply and demand are becoming more uncertain and uncontrollable. To maintain the stability of a power grid, energy supply has to be exactly equal to energy demand all the time. This task is becoming more challenging today with the replacement of relatively dirty and risky, but certain and predictable centralized energy generation sources with clean but uncertain, uncontrollable and distributed renewable sources. When energy supply does not exactly match energy remand, the result is brownouts and blackouts. In order to ensure that supply and demand are equal to each other all the time, all energy devices must be securely managed in sub-second timescales with a robust and reliable communication, analysis and control platform. MelRok’s Energy IoT platform does exactly that.

ESP Touch - Connects to an existing smart meter or Building Management System (BMS), also known as an Energy Management System (EMS) or Building Automation System (BAS). When connected to a smart meter, the ESP Touch streams the smart meter data to the EnergiStream Platform. The ESP Touch can also stream data to a custom database.

ESP Touch Pro - Uses current transform sensors (CT sensors) to monitor energy usage at the panel or breaker level. CT sensors are installed around the electrical wires, so there's no need to shut-off the panel or breakers to install the sensors.

All facilities, campuses and microgrids that have utility meters, energy meters, energy management systems or SCADA systems will benefit from use of the Touch. The Touch is designed to stream information between all energy devices and the cloud. Coupled with the powerful MelRok cloud analytics, the Touch is used for energy monitoring, automated measurement and verification, automated demand response, demand management, as well as EMS performance evaluation and optimization, SCADA evaluation and optimization.

The Touch is a universal Energy IoT router capable of connecting with new and legacy systems. The Touch can interface over multiple layers, including RS-485, Ethernet, pulse counter, ZigBee, and Wi-Fi and over multiple communication protocols, including BACnet, SNMP, Modbus, ZigBee SEP, and other published protocols.

The Touch can be used in a small enterprise where there is only a smart meter and maybe a wall thermostat, to large campuses with multiple EMS, SCADA and energy metering systems.

All facilities, campuses and microgrids where additional power metering is required will benefit from the Touch Pro. Each Touch Pro can measure up to 24 circuits ranging from 20 to 10,000 Amps, and between 110V to 480 VAC. The Touch Pro is also an Energy IoT router able to stream information and control between IP-based energy devices and the cloud. Coupled with the powerful MelRok cloud analytics, the Touch Pro is used for energy metering, automated measurement and verification, automated demand response, demand management, as well as EMS performance evaluation and optimization, SCADA evaluation and optimization. If non-IP based devices exist in the facility and need to be integrated, then the Touch has to be used.
