A better way to measure energy.
In March 2011, a small team of engineers in Orange County, California set out to eliminate wasted energy in buildings. That discipline shaped the first product. MelRok built the world’s first self-reporting energy meter and gateway, the Touch Pro, a single device that combined a multi-channel meter, data client, data server, data logger, and modem to measure, store, and forward high-resolution data to the cloud.
The platform grows.
It began as an energy metering platform, and it worked: colleges, retailers, data centers, industrial plants, and commercial buildings across three continents adopted it for monitoring, measurement and verification, anomaly detection, automated demand response, and cost allocation.

Facility Intelligence.
Today MelRok is a continuous optimization platform pulling data from every system that impacts building performance. Using data from building automation systems, HVAC equipment, energy meters, solar PV, energy storage, systems and environmental sensors, MelRok analyzes the whole facility as one ecosystem evolving over time.

LEADERSHIP
Alan is Co-Founder and an active board member of Adecoagro (NYSE: AGRO), a food and renewable-energy company operating in Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. He is Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of Materra, an agricultural production company based in California and Arizona, and was Co-Founder and CEO of Westlands Solar Farms, which developed and built a 23 MW solar PV facility in western Fresno County. Earlier, Alan was Director of Special Situations at Soros Fund Management; before that, Managing Director at Bankers Trust, overseeing Fixed Income Arbitrage, the bank’s mortgage portfolio, and Community Reinvestment Act compliance. He began his career at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C. Alan holds an MBA from Stanford and a BA in Economics from Pomona College, where he graduated magna cum laude.
Michel is a former rocket scientist and the author of numerous patents and research publications in aerospace, energy optimization, and big-data analytics. He is an expert in cyber-physical systems, big-data platforms, energy systems, and real-time energy analytics, and has presented at national and international conferences and industry workshops hosted by the DOE, the CEC, and the White House. He has served on multiple boards, including the Engineering Leadership Council for the Henry Samueli School of Engineering at UC Irvine and the board of CleanTech OC. Before MelRok, Michel founded Space Launch Corporation, a defense contractor developing microsatellite launch vehicles. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from Stanford.
Steve brings 40 years in institutional and commercial construction and has managed a portfolio of more than $1.5 billion in projects. He was a founding partner at Tovey Shultz Construction, running all operations for over 25 years. Earlier, he was Senior Project Manager at Berry Construction and Project Manager at American Medical Buildings.
Mazen has over 20 years of experience across management consulting, energy, and technology, with a track record of scaling both start-ups and established companies globally — driving growth through strategy, business-model innovation, M&A, and strategic partnerships. He has worked extensively across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, and is passionate about building high-performance teams. Mazen holds a Ph.D. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford.
Jay is a successful hedge fund manager and entrepreneur focused on business development and trading derivatives.
